Fortune USA recently published a compelling feature celebrating the outstanding work of Mauro Porcini, who was honored at the 5th edition of the Business Care International Award, held in New York City in 2023.
Born in Gallarate, Italy, in 1975, Mauro Porcini is widely regarded as one of the most influential and internationally recognized Italian designers of his generation. His career has largely unfolded abroad, particularly in the United States, where he held senior leadership roles at global corporations such as 3M and PepsiCo. In these positions, Porcini played a pivotal role in reshaping the relationship between design, innovation, and corporate strategy.
Most recently, his professional journey reached another significant milestone. Samsung, the South Korean technology giant, appointed Porcini to lead its global design organization—marking a historic first, as he is the first non-Korean executive to head this strategic function within the company.
Despite his global career, Porcini has always maintained a strong connection to Italy. In recognition of his contribution to promoting Italian talent and creativity worldwide, he was awarded the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia, one of the country’s highest honors.
Alongside his executive work, Porcini is also an author and thought leader. In 2021, he published The Age of Excellence: Innovation and Creativity to Build a Better World (Il Saggiatore), a book that explores the power of design as a catalyst for positive change. He is also a frequent presence in international media, where he regularly shares insights on innovation, creativity, and design culture.
